How to distinguish between genuine and fake quartz stone countertops: 5 major testing methods+3 major appearance features (2026 Linyi Practical Edition)

White vinegar drop test: Acidic reaction is the iron proof of counterfeit products
 Drop a few drops of edible white vinegar in a concealed area on the countertop and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Authentic product: No bubbles, no discoloration, no stickiness, and the surface remains in its original state.
 Fake product: Immediately produce small bubbles, with a sticky or white surface - indicating the addition of calcium carbonate (granite), which undergoes a chemical reaction with acid.

⚠️  Attention: Aged vinegar and lemon juice are ineffective. Pure white vinegar must be used, otherwise the reaction cannot be triggered.

Key scratches: metal print vs white powder is the core boundary
 Use a key or art knife to lightly scratch the edge of the countertop (avoiding prominent areas).

Authentic product: Only black metal scratches are left, which can be wiped clean with a dry cloth, as quartz hardness (Mohs 7) is higher than metal.
 Fake product: If white powder falls off or leaves indelible white scratches, it indicates that the proportion of resin or stone powder is too high and the hardness is insufficient.

Soy sauce/marker pen penetration: stain resistance determines lifespan
 Drop a drop of soy sauce or use an oil-based marker to draw circles on the table, let it sit for 20 minutes, and then wipe it with a damp cloth.

Authentic: The stains are completely removed without leaving any traces, and the surface looks like new.
 Fake products: Penetrating into the interior, leaving yellow brown or colored residues, and visible imprints even after cleaning - large pores, low density, and easy to breed dirt.

Lighter burn: heat-resistant exposed resin content
 Burn the edge of the countertop with a lighter flame for 3-5 seconds, cool it down, and wipe it with a tissue.

Authentic: Only slight black marks remain on the surface, which can be easily wiped clean without any odor.
 Fake products: appear burnt black and sticky marks, emit a pungent plastic smell, and even melt locally - the resin exceeds the standard, is prone to deformation at high temperatures, and releases harmful gases.

Knocking sound: Clear as glass, dull as inferior
 Lightly tap the side or corner of the countertop with a hard object, such as a key.

Authentic product: emits a crisp, long-lasting, glass like "ding" sound, indicating a dense structure and high quartz sand content.
 Fake: The sound is dull, short, and hollow, similar to hitting a plastic board, indicating the addition of a large amount of stone powder or hollow structure.

Look at the pattern on the back: the die-casting mark is a genuine ID card
 Look at the back of the countertop (can be requested to view before installation).

Authentic product: It has clear curved die-casting patterns or brand spray codes, with natural and layered textures.
 Fake: The back is as smooth as plastic film, without any indentation or labeling, and even has pores or impurity spots.

Check thickness and price: Do not touch anything below 1.5cm, choose carefully for anything below 500 yuan/meter

Thickness: Regular quartz stone countertop thickness ≥ 15mm (1.5cm), 18mm or 20mm is more durable. Less than 15mm is prone to cracking and has poor load-bearing capacity.
 Price: The mainstream price in Linyi market is 800-1800 yuan/square meter (including installation). If the quotation is less than 500 yuan/meter (linear meter), it is highly likely that it is a counterfeit of "Gangshi", containing a large amount of stone powder and inferior resin, with a high risk of formaldehyde exceeding the standard.

2026 Linyi Consumption Warning:

All merchants should provide GB/T 19727-2005 testing reports, with a focus on verifying the three indicators of "quartz sand content ≥ 90%", "water absorption rate ≤ 0.5%", and "no radioactivity";
 Refusing merchants who refuse to test, scratch, or look at the back, only those who dare to let you test on site are truly reliable;
 Beware of the "5888 yuan jade bracelet" style tricks in live streaming rooms - scams such as painting quartz stones to impersonate jade and forging test reports have become a high incidence area, and CCTV has repeatedly exposed them.
